Report: Reds willing to trade former Rookie of the Year

As the Cincinnati Reds continue their possible push towards a first playoff berth in three years and second in 10 seasons, a notable name is reportedly on the trade market.

After being limited to 103 games last season, India is having a big bounce-back 2023 campaign.

The 26-year-old has played in all but one of the team's 101 contests (and is tied for the league lead in games played), while pacing the National League in hit-by-pitches (14) and ranking eighth in runs scored (68).

India's threatening to set career highs in a number of offensive categories, as he's on pace to pass many of his rookie year statistics.

He's already matched his high of 12 stolen bases and has added 14 home runs (tied for the team high), 51 RBIs and a .251/.338/.411 slash line.

As mentioned by MLB.com's Mark Feinsand, despite India likely having not yet entered the prime of his career, moving him for some starting pitching help may not be a bad idea.

Cincinnati (55-46) is just 0.5 games behind the Milwaukee Brewers (55-45) for first place in the NL Central and they enter Monday atop the wild card standings

The solid season hasn't been due to their starting pitching though, as the Reds are 26th in MLB in ERA (4.73) and quality starts (27).

With the influx of young, promising infielders in Elly De La Cruz (21 years old), Christian Encarnacion-Strand (23), Matt McLain (23) and Spencer Steer (25), India may find his way out of Cincy before the Aug. 1 trade deadline.
