Report: RHP Jake Odorizzi, Astros agree to two-year deal

The Houston Astros added to their starting rotation on Saturday, agreeing to a two-year deal with right-hander Jake Odorizzi, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The Astros were in desperate need of a pitcher for the starting rotation. Justin Verlander will miss the entire 2021 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, and Framber Valdez reportedly could miss the whole season if he undergoes surgery for a broken finger.

Houston's rotation will now include Odorizzi, Zack Greinke, Cristian Javier, Jose Urquidy and Lance McCullers Jr.

Odorizzi spent the last three seasons with the Minnesota Twins, going 22-18 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.282 WHIP and 352 strikeouts in 337 innings. He has also spent time with the Kansas City Royals and Tampa Bay Rays.
