Report: White Sox not planning to trade SPs Lucas Giolito, Lance Lynn

Lance Lynn made his second career All-Star team during his first season with the Chicago White Sox in 2021 and finished third in the AL Cy Young award voting. Lucas Giolito was an All-Star in 2019 and finished 11th in the AL Cy Young vote last year after posting over 200 strikeouts and recording a brilliant 1.10 WHIP.

This year, the two righties are a combined 7-9 and while Lynn's 6.43 ERA through eight starts is second worst on the club, Giolito's isn't much better at 5.14 (fourth worst). Despite both hurlers' struggles (but past successes), it doesn't look like the White Sox have any plans of moving the duo ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.

On Thursday, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand noted that Chicago was expected to be among the "most aggressive teams" in the pitching market in the next few days, along with their primary AL Central competition in the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins. The biggest names on the starting pitching currently include Frankie Montas of the Oakland Athletics and Luis Castillo of the Cincinnati Reds.

Chicago hasn't made it past the divisional round of the playoffs since 2005, when the White Sox won the World Series.
