Report: Yankees, Royals, Marlins possible destinations for Yasiel Puig
Yasiel Puig didn't play during the pandemic-shortened season, but he hopes to make a return to Major League Baseball in 2021.
According to Jim Bowden of CBS Sports, Puig is drawing interest from the New York Yankees, Kansas City Royals and Miami Marlins.
Puig was an All-Star with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2014 and owns a career slash line of .277/.348/.475 with 132 home runs and 415 RBI. However, he hasn't lived up to the hype in recent years.
Puig last played for the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians in 2019, hitting .267 with 24 home runs and 84 RBI. Before that, he spent six seasons with the Dodgers, hitting .279 with 108 home runs and 331 RBI.
The native of Cuba admitted in an interview with MLB.com that he hopes to change some of his bothersome habits in an effort to land a deal with an MLB franchise.
MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reported earlier this month that the Boston Red Sox, Houston Astros and Baltimore Orioles were interested in Puig's services. It's unclear if they are continuing to pursue him.
