Veteran right-hander Mike Clevinger agreed to a one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox on Monday, multiple media outlets reported.

Clevinger, 33, became a free agent after pitching last season for the White Sox, finishing 9-9 in 24 starts with a 3.77 ERA in 131 1/3 innings.

Clevinger emerged as a solid starter early in his career. Over parts of seven seasons with Cleveland (2016-20), the San Diego Padres (2020, 2022) and the White Sox, Clevinger is 60-39 in 152 games (138 starts) with a 3.45 ERA over 788 innings.

Clevinger was dealt to the Padres in August 2020 in a nine-player trade. He suffered an elbow injury in late September, underwent Tommy John surgery in the offseason and missed the 2021 season.

After going 7-7 with a 4.33 ERA in 23 games (22 starts) for San Diego in 2022, Clevinger signed a one-year, $12 million deal with the White Sox.

Early in 2023, Clevinger was under investigation by Major League Baseball officials after being accused of domestic abuse by the mother of one of his children. In March of that year, MLB announced it would not suspend Clevinger following a thorough investigation.

Clevinger agreed to evaluations by the joint treatment boards and comply with any recommendations, per MLB's statement.
