When Rougned Odor agreed to a minor-league deal with the San Diego Padres in the offseason, it was clear that no clear role with the team would be guaranteed and he would have to prove his worth as a veteran second baseman. However, he has been taking full advantage of his Spring Training matches and is making the roster construction for the franchise quite interesting.

In a win against the A's on Sunday, Odor was able to cash in two home runs and caught the eyes of many fans in the process. Bob Melvin spoke to Sammy Levitt of "97.3 The Fan" and revealed that he is making a case to get bumped up to the big leagues.

"This guy's played at a high level in the big leagues before," said Melvin. "You know, depending on where we go, as far what kind of position-player mix we need, he's certainly in the mix at this point."

Odor is 29-years-old and has logged nine seasons in the MLB. He has previously suited up for the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and Baltimore Ravens. It will be interesting, amidst multiple injuries to the Friars, how Odor can fit into their plans.

The veteran infielder has spoke highly of the roster and culture surrounding San Diego in previous interviews when he first signed with the team. Odor has built a fiery reputation through his long tenure in the MLB and he could certainly serve as a good addition if he continues this production at the plate.
