Royals top prospect Vinnie Pasquantino to make debut Tuesday vs. Rangers

One day after getting called up to "The Show," Kansas City Royals top prospect Vinnie Pasquantino will be making his big-league debut on Tuesday night.

With Carlos Santana now on the Seattle Mariners, Pasquantino figures to take over as Kansas City's primary first baseman, though he'll be the designated hitter for his debut. The Royals also have two-time All-Star Whit Merrifield in the infield and rookie sensation Bobby Witt Jr.

Merrifield has been involved in near-constant trade rumors in recent seasons and could finally be on the move in the coming weeks with the team in clear rebuilding mode. Pasquantino is the No. 3 prospect in the organization.

The 24-year-old registered 18 home runs, 67 RBI and a .280/.372/.576 slash line in Triple-A this season.
