With less than two weeks remaining until Opening Day, the San Francisco Giants are dealing with a series of injuries, including to their biggest offseason signing.

Per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle:

Jung Hoo Lee has hamstring tightness and will be out of action the next day or three.

Lee was signed to a six-year deal this offseason after a stellar career in Korea. He's expected to provide offensive stability to a group that struggled in that area last year. In addition to him, the club has brought in Jorge Soler and Matt Chapman this offseason.

In addition to Lee, the Giants are also dealing with a more serious injury to left-handed reliever Ethan Small.

Per Slusser again:

Ethan Small is out with an oblique strain and will miss several weeks. That leaves Juan Sanchez and Amir Garrett as the LH relievers in camp vying for that second lefty job.

The 27-year-old Small made his major league debut in 2022 with the Milwaukee Brewers, but has made just four appearances over the last two years. He has a career ERA of 8.71 in those appearances.

He made 38 relief appearances in the minors last season and was going for the second lefty job in the bullpen behind Taylor Rogers.

The Giants finished fourth in the National League West a season ago but are looking to rebuild this season behind those aforementioned acquisitions (as well as Jordan Hicks). They also hired veteran manager Bob Melvin in the offseason after he had previously been manager of the San Diego Padres.
