According to top team executives, the San Francisco Giants won't be trading top prospect Kyle Harrison this offseason.

The following quote from Farhan Zaidi was given to Tim Kawakami of 'The Athletic' on his podcast:

“I can’t imagine any plausible scenario where we would move Kyle,” Zaidi said. “He kind of embodies everything we’re hoping to be the next few years. He’s a local guy, he’s a homegrown talent, drafted and developed in our organization. Has gotten to the big leagues. Is a great kid, great competitor, has All-Star, Cy Young potential in our mind. Works really hard. Those are the kinds of guys you want to build around.”

Harrison is the No. 1 prospect in the Giants organization, according to MLB.com.

He made his major league debut in 2023, pitching in seven games for San Francisco, who finished fourth in the National League West. He went 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA in 34.2 innings.

The following appears from a portion of his MLB.com prospect profile:

Harrison's low slot creates good angle and shape on his pitches. He's still learning to harness his enhanced stuff, though his ability to miss bats in the strike zone with all three of his offerings means that he doesn't need to locate them with precision. Once he refines his control and command, he'll be ready to help the Giants and should headline their rotation in the near future.

He should have an opportunity to compete for a rotation spot right from the outset of the 2024 season, especially with veterans Robbie Ray and Alex Cobb working back from injury. Ray is out until mid-season in all likelihood and Cobb likely won't be ready for the start of the season after undergoing hip surgery.
