In the midst of a playoff race in the National League, San Francisco Giants prospect Kyle Harrison dominated the Cincinnati Reds in a 4-1 victory.

The rookie, making his home debut, went 6.1 innings, allowing just three hits and no runs. He walked two and struck out 11.

With the win, the Giants are 68-63 and just 0.5 games back in the National League wild card race. The Reds are now 68-65 and 1.5 games back.

With the dominant home debut, Harrison joined a pair of franchise legends in team history:

Per ESPN Stats & Info:

Kyle Harrison struck out 11 without allowing a run on Monday.

He becomes the 3rd-youngest Giants player with 10 K and 0 runs allowed since the mound was set at its current distance in 1893.

The only two younger...Madison Bumgarner and Christy Mathewson.

Harrison is the No. 1 overall prospect in the Giants organization, per MLB.com. Here's a portion of prospect profile:

Harrison's low slot creates good angle and shape on his pitches. He's still learning to harness his enhanced stuff, though his ability to miss bats in the strike zone with all three of his offerings means that he doesn't need to locate them with precision. Once he refines his control and command, he'll be ready to help the Giants and should headline their rotation in the near future.

The Giants will take on the Reds again on Tuesday night at Oracle Park. First pitch is set for 9:45 p.m. ET as Brandon Williamson (CIN) pitches against Alex Cobb (SF).
