The race for the National League Cy Young Award may already have been decided.

Last night, Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara struck again, throwing a six-hit, complete game shutout against the Cincinnati Reds.

Alcantara struck out three hitters and walked just one.

He improved his record to 10-4 on the season and lowered his ERA to 1.88, which is the best ERA in the National League.

He’s been eating up innings and simply dominating everybody he faces on the mound.

Stephen J. Nesbitt of The Athletic pointed out on Twitter than Alcantara now leads all Major League starters with 158.1 innings on the season.

Alcantara Strikes Again

If there’s one guy the St. Louis Cardinals are sorry about letting go, it’s not Randy Arozarena.

It’s this guy.

Many forget that Alcantara made his debut in St. Louis before going back to the Marlins in the Marcell Ozuna trade.

Fast forward a couple of years later and Alcantara has turned himself into one of the best pitchers in all of baseball.

It’s hard to imagine Alcantara not winning the NL Cy Young Award at the end of this season.

Here’s a guy who has transformed himself as a pitcher.

He was once a highly touted pitching prospect in the Cardinals organization.

He’s lived up to all of that hype with the way he’s been pitching.

And his dominance was on full display last night against the Reds.

It seems that Alcantara can’t be stopped.

This was his third complete game of the season, which is the most in baseball.

He doesn’t stop dominating and he won’t be stopping anytime soon.

The Marlins may not be going anywhere, but Alcantara has a bright future ahead of him.
