Scott Boras pleads with MLBPA not to 'bail out' MLB owners

Less than 24 hours after Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Trevor Bauer ripped Scott Boras over negotiations between MLB and the MLB Players Association regarding the start of the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic, a letter the agent sent to clients was obtained by the Associated Press.

Per ESPN, Boras wrote:

"Remember, games cannot be played without you. Players should not agree to further pay cuts to bail out the owners. Let owners take some of their record revenues and profits from the past several years and pay you the prorated salaries you agreed to accept or let them borrow against the asset values they created from the use of those profits players generated."

On Wednesday, Bauer addressed Boras via Twitter and wrote: "I have one thing to say... Scott Boras, rep your clients however you want to, but keep your damn personal agenda out of union business."

Earlier this month, Boras pleaded with players to not cave to owners' demands and said that owners shouldn't "privatize the gains and socialize the losses" for games that would be broadcast across national and local media partners but wouldn't include fans in ballparks because of the uncontrolled virus outbreak.

In March, MLB and the MLBPA agreed to pro-rate salaries for a pandemic-shortened season, but owners are looking to either amend or void that deal because spectators won't be welcomed to venues for the foreseeable future.

Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer made it clear late Wednesday night the players aren't close to budging:

Meanwhile, MLB Network insider Jon Heyman says owners and the players are "eons apart" regarding financial negotiations:
