The Seattle Mariners, out to an 8-9 start to the season, will take on the Milwaukee Brewers later tonight. First pitch is slated for 9:40 p.m. ET. The Brewers took Game 1, 7-3.

Before the game though, some updates were provided on injured Mariners Robbie Ray, Dylan Moore and Taylor Trammell, and Andres Munoz.

The news was largely positive, with the exception of Ray, who is still working his way from back a flexor issue sustained in his first start of the season.

Daniel Kramer of MLB.com tweeted:

"Robbie Ray isn't quite ready to begin a throwing program after being re-evaluated yesterday, but he says the progression on his left flexor strain has been good. He'll undergo another MRI later this week."

It's good to hear that he's feeling better, but the fact that he hasn't been cleared for a throwing program means he's still several weeks away from a return, as he'll need to build up his pitch count again.

Ray, 31, signed a five-year deal with the Mariners before the 2022 season and went 12-12 with a 3.71 ERA last year. He won the 2021 Cy Young for the Blue Jays, going 13-7 with a 2.84 ERA.

For his career, he's 74-71 and has played with Seattle, Toronto, Arizona and Detroit.

More news on the Mariners injury front concerns utility player Dylan Moore. The news is better on him as he is beginning a rehab assignment on Tuesday. Adam Jude of the Seattle Times tweets:

"Dylan Moore, out here at T-Mobile Park doing early infield work, is scheduled to head up to Everett for his first rehab game tonight. Moore will start at SS and bat second when the High-A AquaSox play host to Vancouver at 7:05 p.m."

Moore, 30, signed a three-year contract worth $8.875 million this offseason. The Mariners won 90 games last year and advanced to the AL Divisional series, where they were swept by the Houston Astros.

Moore is slated to be the primary backup to JP Crawford at shortstop and could factor into a platoon-situation with Kolten Wong at second base. He also has the ability to play all three outfield positions and is a career .225 hitter against LHPs. That may not seem like much, but he's a career .198 hitter against righties, so that is a significant difference.

As for Munoz, the news on him was good as manager Scott Servais said he's getting closer to a rehab assignment. He's been out with a deltoid issue.

The Mariners also got good news on outfielder Taylor Trammell, who is beginning a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma.

He's playing center field and hitting second in the lineup for Rainiers. He's spent parts of two years in Seattle, hitting .174 cumulatively in 295 career plate appearances. He does have 12 career home runs and 28 RBI.
