On Wednesday afternoon, the finalists were announced for the Gold Glove Awards.

You can see that full list here.

Evidently, not everyone was happy with how the finalists shook out, including Seattle Mariners reliever Justin Topa.

Upon finding out that third baseman Eugenio Suarez was NOT named a finalist, Topa subtlety delivered a confused GIF on social media:

Matt Chapman (Blue Jays), Alex Bregman (Astros), and Jose Ramirez (CLE) were the finalists, and while no one is arguing they aren't great players, Suarez being overlooked is very disappointing.

For starters, he played in all 162 games this year. Next, he was incredible defensively. He had a .980 fielding percentage and made just eight errors in 391 chances. He also has a phenomenal throwing arm and made several plays that ordinary players can't make.

It's great to see Topa sticking up for Suarez here. Despite Seattle finishing 1.0 game out of the playoffs, this team appeared very close and this just evidences it.

Per an MLB release, here's how the winners are chosen for the Gold Glove:

To determine the winners at the nine standard positions, the 30 MLB managers and up to six coaches from each team vote from a pool of players in their league, excluding players from their own team. These votes comprise 75% of the selection total, with the SABR Defensive Index counting for the other 25%.

For the utility position, Rawlings collaborated with SABR to create a specialized defensive formula separate from the traditional selection process.

The Gold Glove winners will be announced on Nov. 5.
