The Seattle Mariners will be awaiting anxiously as ace reliever Matt Brash throws for the first time since being diagnosed with right elbow inflammation last week.

While the initial diagnosis on the elbow was positive, there's always worry that it could resurface or get worse, so the M's will be holding their breath.

Per Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710:

Tuesday will be a big day for the Mariners as reliever Matt Brash, who has been dealing with elbow inflammation, is expected to resume throwing. All eyes will be on his catch session with a trainer. Brash appeared in an MLB-leading 78 games last season.

While Brash throwing is a big step, it's likely that Wednesday is an ever bigger day for him because the team will want to see how he recovers. Given that Brash is behind in his program, the M's will likely have him start the year on the injured list. He's very important to the organization, so they'll definitely want to play the long game with him.

The 25-year-old Brash is one of the nastiest pitchers in all of baseball, complete with a triple-digit fastball and a wicked slider. He went 9-4 last season for Seattle with a 3.06 ERA and led baseball in appearances with 78. He made his major league debut in 2022 and made five starts before heading to Triple-A and resurfacing as a dynamite reliever.

If and when he's healthy, he'll pair with Andres Munoz and Gregory Santos to make up an excellent 1-2-3 in the bullpen.
