Coming into the season, starting pitching depth was a resounding strength for the Braves, but the last few weeks have painted a picture of why it is so vital to sustained success over the course of the season.

Kyle Wright, Max Fried, and Kolby Allard are currently on the Injured List. Ian Anderson hasn’t bounced-back like many hoped he would after a forgetful 2022. Michael Soroka still isn’t ready to contribute at the major-league level, and Jared Shuster showed in his MLB debut that he could use a little more seasoning in the minors before being tossed into the fire.

We aren’t even a week into the season, and the Braves rotation is down to Spencer Strider, Charlie Morton, Bryce Elder, Dylan Dodd, and an open spot that will likely be a bullpen game until Fried or Wright comes off the Injured List.

This is far from the group the Braves expected to have in April a month ago, and it could poise some issues over the coming weeks. On the latest episode of SportsTalkATL, Chase Irle and Jake Gordon discuss Atlanta’s current rotation issues and how concerned they are moving forward.
