Defensive back Tevin Griffey, the son of longtime Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds  slugger Ken Griffey Jr., has transferred to  Boise State, the team announced Thursday afternoon.

Tevin Griffey had been at Florida A&M since 2020, although his freshman season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He then redshirted the 2021 season after only appearing in one game.

Griffey played 10 games in 2022, recording 10 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. In 2023, he totaled 13 tackles, one blocked kick and one interception in 12 games, bringing that lone pick back for a touchdown.

Coming out of high school, Griffey was a three-star cornerback from Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. He received additional interest from Toledo, Michigan, Arizona and Oregon, according to 247Sports.

While Griffey has spent his time perfecting his craft on the gridiron, his father and grandfather were All-Stars on the diamond.

Ken Griffey Jr. racked up 2,781 hits, 630 home runs and a 83.8 WAR in his 22 seasons with the Mariners, Reds and Chicago White Sox. Since retiring in 2010, the Hall of Famer has worked as a sideline photographer covering MLB, MLS, the NFL and college football.

Perhaps Ken Jr. could shoot some of his son's action on the blue turf in Boise this coming fall. He could also follow the Broncos to their postseason destination, consider he's shot the Fiesta Bowl in the past, plus the fact that Boise State is on a streak of 26 consecutive winning seasons.
