The game yesterday between the New York Mets and Pittsburgh Pirates was called off due to rain, pushing back the series opener to tonight and setting up a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The rainout gave each team a moment to hit the reset button and take a day off.

Starling Marte certainly took advantage of that day off.

He’ll make his return to PNC Park tonight.

But yesterday, he clearly was enjoying his return to Pittsburgh, posting a photo on Instagram of himself wrapped in a towel and enjoying buffet food in his hotel room.

SNY, the TV home of the Mets, got a hold of the photo and posted it on their Twitter account.

Marte Living The Dream

That’s one way you can take advantage of an unexpected day off.

There’s nothing wrong with enjoying buffet food in your hotel room.

There’s also nothing quite like a little breakfast in bed.

Marte is certainly being treated well by the city he once called home, even now that his days with the Pirates are through.

He’s earned the right to have a day like he did yesterday.

Anytime you can get breakfast in bed in your hotel room, you have to consider yourself fortunate.

But this is a funny photo Marte took of himself as he prepared for a nice, chill day in Pittsburgh.

That should give him the rest he needs to prepare for tonight’s series opener.

He was living the dream yesterday in his hotel room and he should be well rested for tonight.

We’ll see if the rest pays off.

But you can’t ask for a much better day than what Marte had yesterday.

We all wish we could have a day like that.
