Noah Syndergaard was spotted Tuesday night at Madison Garden attending the New York Knicks’ victory over the Chicago Bulls. And the New York Mets superstar pitcher sent the city’s gossip columns into red alert courtesy of what appears to be a budding romance.

Syndergaard attended the Knicks game with Alexandra Cooper, a former soccer player and senior at Boston University. There was no doubt, either, that the outing had all the makings of a date. The two clearly were enjoying the company of one another and didn’t shy away from plenty of PDA while seated courtside.

Lending more credence to the budding romance is how Cooper’s social media activity of late showed she was in Port St. Lucie, Fla., area during spring training, where the Mets hold camp.

Syndergaard on Monday night also posted a photograph from a group dinner that Cooper attended.

It’s nice to see Syndergaard is maintaining his patented humorous and whimsical approach to social media, it merits noting.

The dinner outing followed the Mets’ 6-0 Opening Day win over the Atlanta Braves, a game in which Syndergaard pitched six innings and struck out six while giving up only five hits before leaving a game with a blister on his right middle finger.

It remains to be seen if the Syndergaard-Cooper coupling develops into a full-blown romance. Perhaps a double-date with Mets teammate Matt Harvey and supermodel Adriana Lima is in order.
