It was an interesting night in Cleveland to say the least.

Down 4-2 in the bottom of the eighth, the Cleveland Guardians were on the verge of losing three out of four to the Detroit Tigers and couldn’t get anything going.

That is, until Luke Maile swung and missed for what would have been the third out had it not been dropped, allowing him to reach first base after the previous two hitters had struck out.

What followed was an unprecedented offensive outburst.

After the first three hitters struck out, the Guardians scored six unanswered runs and held on for the win.

It was the first time in the expansion era that a team had scored six runs in an inning after having struck out three times.

Guardians Make Comeback History

The Guardians desperately needed a win after the Minnesota Twins picked up a victory, and they got it.

It may have come in an odd fashion, but a win is a win.

Something like this has never happened before, where a team’s first three hitters of an inning struck out, and they subsequently scored six runs.

It was all thanks to Eric Haase’s dropped third strike.

Sometimes even the most unlikely things can happen in baseball and give your team new life.

That’s how it was for the Guardians last night.

It’s been a wild season out in Cleveland, and things got even more wild with their jaw-dropping comeback last night.

It’s not every day when you get to see your team score six runs in an inning after the first three hitters had struck out, but the Guardians made some nice comeback history and picked up a much-needed win.
