The 'MLB home run leaders since 1997' quiz

Over the past few years, the Toronto Blue Jays have often been the bridesmaid but rarely the bride for superstar free agents like Shohei Ohtani and Juan Soto. But Blue Jays brass made sure that wouldn’t happen with home-grown star Vladimir Guerrero Jr, who signed a 14-year, $500 million contract. There was a good deal of public back and forth between Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays over the negotiation process, and when the season began with no deal it seemed like Vladito was destined to test free agency this offseason. While the deal is still pending a physical, Blue Jays fans can (mostly) rest assured that they won’t have to see Guerrero Jr. come to the Rogers Centre wearing a Yankees, Red Sox or Dodgers jersey anytime soon.

Which brings us to today’s quiz. Guerrero Jr. hasn’t replicated his career-year from 2021 when he led all of baseball in home runs, runs scored and total bases, but he still hit 30 dingers with a .323 batting average in 2024. With that being said, can you name every player to lead MLB in home runs since the 1997 season?

Good luck!
