The Orioles are calling up baseball's top prospect to the Majors

The Baltimore Orioles lineup is about to get even better. According to a report from ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Orioles are calling up infielder Jackson Holliday, the top prospect in all of baseball, to the Major Leagues and adding another significant piece to a World Series-contending lineup.

It was a minor shock when Holliday did not earn a spot on the Major League roster to open the season given how well he played in spring training. All he has done since starting the year in the minors is hit, owning a .333 average with a 1.077 OPS in 42 at-bats to open the season.

The Orioles opened a three-game series in Boston on Tuesday.

Holliday was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft and has made a rapid ascent to the league. When he makes his Major League debut he will do so at 20 years of age and be one of the youngest players in the league.

He will also join a young Orioles core that already has Adley Rutschman, Gunnar Henderson and Ryan Mountcastle around the diamond, as well as an underrated pitching staff that was made even stronger before the season when they traded for Corbin Burnes.

The Orioles won 101 games and the American League East title a season ago and look even better this season on paper.

They were already on the short list of top World Series contenders, and the arrival of Holliday should only strengthen that status. Especially if he hits the way he is expected to hit.
