After signing veteran ace Jacob deGrom to a five-year, $185 million deal, the Texas Rangers have proven that they are going all in for 2023.

Last offseason, the team inked Corey Seager and Marcus Semien to long-term deals, but did not do much to address their pitching staff.

The Rangers entered the 2022-23 offseason hoping to address their pitching needs.

By adding the top pitcher on the market, the Rangers have strengthened their pitching staff and their ballclub and now look to be in a position to contend in 2023.

This marks the second consecutive offseason that the Rangers have made at least one marquee addition.

On Twitter, MLB tweeted a graphic of deGrom photoshopped in a Texas uniform, with both Seager and Semien featured as well.

Bigger In Texas

As the old saying goes, everything is always bigger in Texas.

Such has been the case in the past two offseasons, as the Rangers have made some very impactful moves and landed some star players.

The Rangers won just 68 games during the regular season after the additions of Semien and Seager.

But after landing the best pitcher on the market, their fortunes appear to have changed.

They also had added Jake Odorizzi to their rotation in a trade with the Atlanta Braves.

The team has not reached the postseason since 2016, when they were swept in the ALDS by the Toronto Blue Jays.

For the first time since then, Texas looks prepared to contend for a spot in the postseason.

Having an ace to complement that their two marquee signings from last offseason gives the Rangers a chance to make some noise in the near future.
