To start off this day in Phillies history, we'll have to go back to 1972 when Larry Bowa won his first Gold Glove Award.

Bowa earned the award after leading all National League shortstops in fielding percentage at .987, which was the second-highest in all of MLB, only trailing Detroit Tigers' shortstop Ed Brinkman. Bowa would earn one more Gold Glove during his career in 1978.

For the next instance of Phillies history, we'll need to fast forward a decade to 1982, when Mike Schmidt, Garry Maddox, and Manny Trillo would win themselves a Gold Glove.

For Schmidt, it would be his seventh straight Gold Glove. In the '70s and '80s, Schmidt had the Gold Glove Award cornered, continuing this streak for another two years before winning it two years later, giving him a total of 10 Gold Gloves, which is the Phillies' franchise record.

Schmidt's teammate Maddox had a similar streak in the '70s and early '80s as he would win seven consecutive Gold Glove Awards, which leads Philadelphia's franchise record for Gold Gloves in the outfield.

Lastly, Trillo had his second straight Gold Glove campaign in 1982, and alongside the award, he would be named to his second straight All-Star Game that year. Trillo leads the Phillies' franchise record for Gold Gloves earned at second base.
