Timmy Trumpet to attend Mets game, could play Edwin Diaz 'Narco' walkout music

The top music hit of the 2022 MLB season could soon be coming to Citi Field in a special way.

Per The Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the New York Mets announced Wednesday that Timmy Trumpet will throw out the ceremonial first pitch for this coming Tuesday's home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Timmy Trumpet has, of course, become famous among baseball fans for teaming up with Blasterjaxx to create the "Narco" song that Mets closer Edwin Diaz uses as walkout music and that has gone viral on multiple occasions throughout the current baseball campaign.

Additionally, Timmy Trumpet will hang around to watch Tuesday's contest and is expected to perform "Narco" live if manager Buck Showalter calls for Diaz out of the bullpen.

As noted by ESPN stats, Diaz began Wednesday tied for fifth in all of MLB with 28 saves this season, and the 28-year-old has recorded an incredible 97 strikeouts and posted a 1.46 ERA over 49.1 innings of work. His dominance combined with the catchiness of "Narco" helped turn the song into a sensation used by couples for wedding walkout music and featured in a social-media challenge.

Diaz first began using "Narco" while with the Seattle Mariners and was urged to go back to the song by his wife after he struggled through a rough 2019 season with the Mets. Recently, Blasterjaxx's Thom Jongkind and Idir Makhlaf declared they'd like to attend a Mets game and play their hit at Citi Field.

As for baseball-related matters, the first-place Mets went into Wednesday night holding only a one-and-a-half-game lead over the second-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East standings.
