It is surprising to see that there has not been a friendship-themed card featuring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. Revered as the greatest quarterback-tight end duo in NFL history, their chemistry and bond extends off the football field as well. They have always and continue to support each other through different endeavors on and off the football field.
Recently, Rob Gronkowski was invited by the Boston Red Sox to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The former tight end for the New England Patriots did the most ‘Gronk’ move by throwing the pitch in a way that was too familiar for fans in Boston. His throw did not get past the pitcher’s mound as he decided to pull out his iconic spike.
Rob Gronkowski did the iconic Gronk spike and hurled the ball on the mound, a move that attracted cheers from fans. Unfortunately, for fans, there was not much celebrating after as the Red Sox lost 6-0 to the Cleveland Guardians. Considering his unorthodox personality, it was not surprising to see the tight end throw the pitch in his own unique style.
Tom Brady gave props to his best friend by commenting “Love seeing that Gronk Spike!!!!” Of course, the move would bring happiness to Brady as the spike signifies a successful touchdown and winning, to him.

The tight end did a similar celebration at the Boston Marathon when he similarly spiked the ball. His pitch will go down alongside Simone Biles’ unforgettable cartwheel and flip before throwing the ball as one of the more unique ways to throw a pitch.
The Gronk spike continues to live on despite it’s creator having retired from the game. It has become synonymous with his game, the first image that comes to mind of fans when they hear the name Gronkowski is usually him spiking the football. The celebration has now become the go-to method of celebrating for tight ends across the NFL.
