Baseball runs strong in the Holliday family.

Matt Holliday was one of baseball’s most durable players for 15 years, winning a World Series, earning seven All-Star selections, a Batting Title, and four Silver Slugger Awards.

His son, Jackson Holliday, was the first overall pick by the Baltimore Orioles in this year’s MLB Draft.

The Orioles assigned Holliday to rookie ball after signing him.

After just eight games, the Orioles are promoting him to their Single-A team.

In those eight games at the rookie ball level, Holliday hit .409 with a double, a home run, 10 walks, three stolen bases, and an insane 1.167 OPS.

Holliday Rising Through Orioles’ System

Holliday is catching on fast.

The young shortstop has a bright future ahead of him.

It’s amazing that it took only eight games at the rookie ball level for him to ultimately be promoted to Single-A.

But coming from a baseball family, Holliday is no stranger to raking.

Holliday had said that his goal was to reach the Major Leagues in roughly two years.

He’s already been called up to Single-A, so that dream definitely is not too far out of reach.

If he keeps hitting the way he was hitting in rookie ball, then he’s on track to rise through the Orioles’ farm system at an insane rate and ultimately become a big leaguer.

His stats in high school were a thing of beauty.

If he stays hot, then we may see him reach the Majors before long and become a part of the Orioles youth movement.

There are a ton of talented young stars in the Orioles system and on their roster, and Holliday is just one example.

We’ll see how he does at Single-A.
