Trevor Bauer, Kyle Lohse trade jabs over MLB-MLBPA negotiations, Scott Boras

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Trevor Bauer hasn't been shy about bringing the heat via social media amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier this month, Bauer and his agent referred to a return-to-play proposal offered by owners that included a revenue split instead of prorated salaries for a pandemic-shortened season "laughable."

On Wednesday, the 29-year-old hit out at agent Scott Boras regarding negotiations between MLB and the MLB Players Association when he tweeted that Boras should "rep your clients however you want to, but keep your damn personal agenda out of union business."

That comment led to former pitcher Kyle Lohse responding to Bauer in defense of Boras:

From there, it was game on:

Lohse responded that Bauer and other players shouldn't publicly campaign to win a battle versus owners:

This led to Bauer reminding Lohse who is and isn't an active player as of May 2020 and who may be out of touch with the current state of baseball:

Lohse did not take this kindly, as he derided what he deemed to be Bauer's immaturity:

Bauer went for a "strike 'em out, throw 'em out" highlight via a two-worded answer:

Lohse reiterated he believes Bauer has some growing up to do before he argues with former players online:

In short, the fact Baseball Twitter fervently followed these exchanges served as Thursday's reminder of why we need the MLB to start its season as soon as possible.
