Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, who is already under investigation for alleged sexual assault, is facing more allegations of misconduct as part of a temporary protection order in 2020.
Bauer first faced a sexual assault allegation in July and was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball a few days later. With his tenure in Los Angeles likely over and uncertainty about his future in MLB, more allegations have come to light against Bauer.
According to records obtained by the Washington Post, an Ohio woman sought a protective order in June 2020 after she reported numerous threats from Bauer.
As part of The Post‘s reporting, which includes graphic details of the alleged acts and threatening text messages, the report details alarming allegations. Among them, Bauer choked and punched the woman during sex and sent her messages threatening to kill her or to send an explicit video of the two to her family.
The Post obtained copies of messages, sent via Snapchat and through text, with one allegedly coming from Bauer that threatened to hit the woman in the face and to choke her unconscious.
According to a police report, the unidentified woman brought forward police photographs in 2017, but she was charged with underage drinking. The photos, which The Post obtained, showed bruising on the reported victim’s face and blood in her eyes.
After signing Bauer to a three-year, $102 million contract this offseason, the Dodgers have distanced themselves from the reigning NL Cy Young Award winner. The organization nixed a Bauer bobblehead night, and it’s believed the clubhouse doesn’t want him to return.
MLB and the players’ union recently agreed to extend Bauer’s administrative leave this week until August 20. A civil hearing for the temporary restraining order obtained against Bauer is scheduled for Aug. 16-19 in Los Angeles.
Bauer responds to latest allegations
Since the first allegations came to light, Bauer has kept relatively quiet on social media. But shortly after The Post released its Story, Bauer denied the allegations on Twitter.
In addition to his denial of the allegations, Bauer posted screenshots of text messages with the reported victim that he says were supplied to The Post.
“Despite my representatives providing a wealth of contradictory evidence, documents, statements, and background information showing the pattern of disturbing behavior by this woman and her attorneys, The Washington Post opted to ignore much of this information and to run a salacious story disseminating defamatory statements, false information, and baseless allegations.”
Bauer’s agent, Rachel Luba, and lawyer, Jon Fetterolf, denied the latest allegations. In a response to the story, both said Bauer engaged in a consensual relationship with the woman from 2016-19 and they said she filed a “bogus protection petition” all while trying to receive millions of dollars for her silence.
The Dodgers declined to comment on The Post‘s story and whether they were aware of the allegations in Ohio.
