Trey Mancini is headed to Houston.

In a three-team deal with the Tampa Bay Rays, the Baltimore Orioles sent Mancini over to the Houston Astros.

And thus ends Mancini’s time in Baltimore, where he was loved and respected by every fan and teammate.

The deal itself is a little shocking, given that the Orioles are right in the thick of the playoff race.

But after the deal was made, Mancini took to Twitter to thank Baltimore and express his gratitude for the city, the organization, and the fanbase, highlighting his journey back from colon cancer and all the great memories he shared in the city.

Mancini Says Goodbye

Who’s cutting the onions over here?

This is a very nice and bittersweet farewell Mancini left Orioles fans with.

They know he gave his all day in and day out for the city and the organization.

They know how grateful he is to have not only played in Baltimore, but to have been able to survive his battle with colon cancer with the entire city pulling for him.

Again, it’s shocking that the Orioles would trade him, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less appreciative of what the organization did for him.

It’s clear that even after being traded, the city of Baltimore, the fans, the Orioles organization, and all of his teammates over the years mean the world to him.

It has to be tough for him to say goodbye to a place he’s known and loved for a long time, but he’ll always hold a special place in his heart for Baltimore.

Now, it’s on to Houston, but he won’t forget Birdland and Birdland won’t forget him either.
