The Cleveland Guardians are slowly closing in on an American League Central division title.

It would be their first division title since they won the Central back in 2018.

After not being able to separate themselves from the Chicago White Sox and Minnesota Twins for much of the season, the Guards have finally taken off.

And they sure had to like what they saw last night out of right-hander Triston McKenzie.

McKenzie pitched eight innings of two-run ball against the White Sox, allowing just six hits, no walks, and striking out 13 as the Guardians made a statement with an 8-2 series clinching victory.

McKenzie Leads The Way For The Guards

If you thought the Guardians were no threat this year, think again.

McKenzie stuck it right to the White Sox last night and completely dominated them over eight innings.

It was McKenzie’s 11th win of the season.

The right-hander lowered his ERA to 3.04 with his dominance last night.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation for the Guardians this season, giving them innings when they need them and forming a solid one-two punch atop their rotation with staff ace Shane Bieber.

Last night’s performance helped the Guardians make a statement and put the White Sox further in the rearview mirror.

The Guardians are now six games up on the South Siders.

The Guardians have proven to be the best team in the division all season long and are now closing in on punching their ticket to October.

McKenzie will certainly be at the forefront of their run.

Tonight, Cleveland will send Bieber to the mound in hopes of picking up a sweep and increasing their lead in the Central to seven games.
