The Minnesota Twins clinched a series victory over the Chicago White Sox with a 6-3 win Wednesday night. After a comeback win on Tuesday, Minnesota got off to a fast start and posted a big, early lead against Chicago starter Garrett Crochet. The White Sox are 3-21 and losers of six straight.

Crochet lasted just four innings for Chicago in another tough outing for the first-year starter. The Twins tagged him for four runs in the second frame, with Willi Castro’s three-run homer supplying most of the damage.

The South Siders clawed back to cut their deficit to one run before Crochet’s night ended. Kevin Pillar and Korey Lee each belted solo homers in the third inning.

They added a run in the fifth with a successful double-steal with runners on the corners. Braden Shewmake stole home on the play shortly after stealing third.

The Way It Went

However, Minnesota responded with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Deivi Garcia relieved Crochet after allowing a lead-off double to Manuel Margot. Margot advanced to third on Carlos Santana’s flyout and scored on Max Keplar’s two-out pinch-hit infield single that was misplayed between Andrew Benintendi and Paul DeJong.

Keplar would move to third on Christian Vazquez’s single and scored on Garcia’s wild pitch.

News And Notes

Chicago’s 1-4 hitters went 0-16 with seven strikeouts. The team as a whole had four hits in the contest.

John Brebbia made his 300th career appearance.

Shewmake is the first White Sox player to steal home since Elvis Andrus did it on August 19, 2023, against Colorado.

Pillar and Lee had the first multi-homer inning of the season for the White Sox
