Twins shortstop prospect Brooks Lee draws praise from Baldelli, Correa
With ringing endorsements from Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli and shortstop Carlos Correa, it’s safe to say Brooks Lee is making a statement with his play this spring.
Speaking with MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park Correa raved about the prospect, explaining that he "really, really, really like[s] this kid" and that he is "very, very high on him." Then, Correa offered a kicker, telling Park, "Don't be surprised if we see him up this year."
"He's on everyone's radar already." said Baldelli.
The Twins' first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft, Lee was heralded as the most polished hitter of his class after spending two years demolishing the ball in college at Cal Poly.
While Correa is locked into the Twins' shortstop position for the foreseeable future, he has been open in helping Lee to acclimate to the spring environment.
"Everybody I talk to about him, it's high praise, man," said Correa.
When asked about Lee making it to the Twins this coming season, Baldelli replied in very manager-esque fashion, "He can come here [spring training] and make a good impression, leave some people impressed. He's starting to do that."
Lee should see an extended look in camp with the Twins as the roster breaks up by degrees for World Baseball Classic play. More chances to leave the coaches and front office impressed.
