Two doubleheaders mean double the betting fun

Since Tuesday's MLB best parlay got voided due to the Yankees and Twins getting washed out, we're going to try this parlay thing one more time. Good news is we get to include one of our two legs from Tuesday's original parlay — Yankees over Twins (Game 2) — since both scheduled hurlers are still starting.

And with how bad the Twins have been against the Yankees over the years — 13-50 at Yankee Stadium since 2002 — why would you bet against the Bronx Bombers? This is far from a small sample size. Even though the Yankees have been a huge disappointment in the second half, betting against them at home against the Twins is just plain stupid, especially with Gerrit Cole starting.

Cole got rocked by Minnesota — seven runs on eight hits (five home runs) over 2.1 innings back in June — but prior to that, the All-Star allowed just two runs in three previous starts against them. Plus, it's not like the Twins are playing well right now. Minnesota has lost four of five, and starter Joe Ryan has an ERA over six in his last six starts. 

Do I even need to mention Aaron Judge? The clear-cut AL MVP is simply the most dangerous hitter on the planet and teams, for some reason, still choose to pitch to him. Judge is on pace to hit 65 home runs and is probably going to be baseball's highest-paid player come this offseason. 

As for our other New York game and the final leg of our parlay, take the Mets over the Pirates in Game 1 of their doubleheader. New York is now tied with Atlanta for first in the NL East, but they're still in position to win the division. They just need to beat up on the bad teams — and it starts with Pittsburgh on Wednesday. 

Good thing for New York, starter Chris Bassitt is going for the Mets in Game 1. Bassitt is 5-0 with a 1.83 ERA over his last six starts and the Pirates have nothing remotely close to a potent offense. Despite scoring eight runs on Tuesday against New York, the Bucs still have the lowest OPS, on-base percentage and batting average in the National League, and have scored the fourth-fewest runs in baseball. 

Plus, Pittsburgh is 0-9 over its last nine series. Ouch. No way you should trust Pittsburgh in this one, even if it's the morning game of a doubleheader.

Sun blow out sky, force winner-take-all Game 5 — DeWanna Bonner and Courtney Williams each scored 19 points in the Connecticut Sun's 104-80 blowout win over the Chicago Sky on Tuesday night, forcing a winner-take-all Game 5 on Thursday night. The current line for Thursday's Game 5 has Chicago (-150) as the home moneyline favorite, with the spread set at 4 (-110), and the over/under at 161 (-110). In the other WNBA playoff game Tuesday night, the Las Vegas Aces advanced to the Finals with a 97-92 win over the Seattle Storm in the final game of Sue Bird's legendary career. 

Georgia moves up to No. 2, Clemson, Notre Dame drop out of top 4 —The Georgia Bulldogs jumped up to No. 2 in the AP College Football Top 25 after destroying Oregon, 49-3, on Saturday, while Clemson and Notre Dame fell out of the top four. Alabama remains the top-ranked team in the country, followed by Georgia, No. 3 Ohio State, No. 4, Michigan and No. 5 Clemson. Alabama (-700), Ohio State (-370) and Ohio State (-320) remain heavy favorites to make the College Football Playoff. However, Clemson (+150) and USC (+300) are favored over Michigan to make the CFP.

Garcia tops Gauff at U.S. Open, advances to first Grand Slam semifinal — 17th-seeded Caroline Garcia defeated Coco Gauff in straight sets on Tuesday night at the U.S. Open to advance to her first Grand Slam semifinal. Garcia, who lost both of her previous two series against Gauff, will face Ons Jabeur in the semis on Thursday. Garcia is currently the favorite (+190) to win the U.S. Open, followed by Oga Swiatek (+210). In a late five-setter, Karen Khachanov ousted Nick Kyrgios to reach the men's semis.
