Two-time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber to throw session for teams

Two-time Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber had an $18 million team option declined by the Texas Rangers in late October and has started only two official games since the morning of May 1, 2019.

The veteran, who turns 35 years old in April, is willing to try to impress a potential buyer or two during a throwing session.

Per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez, Kluber will toss 30 pitches during a workout for clubs at Cressey Sports Performance in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Jan. 13. The right-hander has remained a free agent through the start of the new year and likely will have to agree to a team-friendly deal to sign with a new employer ahead of spring training.

Kluber's 2019 campaign ended after the May 1 start against the Miami Marlins when he was struck with a line drive during that appearance and suffered a non-displaced fracture of the ulna in his right arm. The righty, who was playing for the Cleveland Indians at that time, then strained his oblique in August of that year.

The Rangers traded for Kluber in December 2019, but he went down to a season-ending Grade 2 tear of the teres major muscle in his right shoulder after one inning in his debut start last July.
