The Braves season didn’t end the way we all hoped, but they did win their fifth consecutive NL East title, catching the Mets from 10.5 games back. What an unforgettable regular season it was, and for Braves fans, part of the fun was keeping up with Barstool’s Frank The Tank — a diehard Mets fan, who might take things a little too seriously.

But apparently, it wasn’t just Braves fans enjoying Frank The Tank’s nightly meltdowns every time the Mets lost and the Braves won; it was the Braves players as well.

Tyler Matzek says the Braves were keeping tabs on Frank The Tank as well every time they won. They would sit in the clubhouse after wins refreshing their tabs, waiting for him to drop a video of him freaking out.

After a brutally disappointing loss in the NLDS, stories like this make me feel a little better. The Braves may not have completed their ultimate goal, but they still ruined the Mets’ season, and we all got to witness Frank lose his mind in real time. I’m just glad the players enjoyed it as much as we did.

On a side note, this is yet another example of why I love Tyler Matzek. After undergoing Tommy John surgery, he won’t be available next season, and there’s a very real chance he never plays for the Braves again, but what an absolute legend he will be in this city forever.
