Vaughn Grissom capped off his impressive Triple-A season in record-breaking fashion on Sunday.

In the Stripers' season finale that saw Gwinnett win 7-6 over the Durham Bulls, Grissom's eighth-inning double gave him 36 doubles on the season, breaking the Stripers' single-season record.

The record was previously held by Freddie Freeman and Ernesto Mejia. Freeman set the previous record of 35 in 2010, while Mejia tied the first baseman's record in 2015.

His 36 doubles put him tied for fifth in Minor League Baseball alongside Abraham Toro, who plays for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds in the Milwaukee Brewers organization.

According to the Stripers, Grissom also finished the season with a 0.419 on-base percentage, breaking Gwinnett's single-season record. The previous record was held by former first baseman and current Shorter University head baseball coach Wes Timmons, when he finished with a 0.416 on-base percentage in 2009.

Grissom finished his season slashing .330/.419/.501 in Gwinnett, racking up eight home runs and 61 RBIs as he was named the team's most valuable player on Friday.

He also led the Stripers in hits (131) and finished second in runs (74) and triples (four).

In 23 games with the Atlanta Braves, Grissom slashed .280/.313/.347 as he totaled 21 hits and nine RBIs in 75 at-bats.
