When a player reaches 10 full years of service time in Major League Baseball, it’s an accomplishment worth celebrating.

Most players don’t last that long, so when a player who isn’t exactly a star reaches that milestone, it’s kind of a big deal that calls for a celebration.

Chicago Cubs catcher Yan Gomes, despite not exactly being a superstar, has reached the 10-year milestone.

Gomes has been an All-Star and a Silver Slugger.

He also was a key member of the Washington Nationals 2019 World Series championship team.

Jet Sports Management, the agency that represents Gomes, tweeted to celebrate their client’s accomplishment.

10 Years Of Yan Gomes

Gomes is not somebody you look at and think of as a superstar, but he is a well-traveled MLB veteran and has seen a lot of things over the course of his career.

When you make it 10 years and have an All-Star selection, a Silver Slugger Award, and a World Series ring to your name, that’s something special.

Over the course of his 10-year career, Gomes has played for the Toronto Blue Jays, Cleveland Guardians, Washington Nationals, and now the Cubs.

The 34-year-old catcher is hitting .214 this season with three home runs and nine RBI.

For his career, the veteran catcher has a .245 average, 120 home runs, and 425 RBI.

It’s been a solid ride for Gomes so far in his career.

He’s a veteran voice that is valuable in any clubhouse and a guy who young players can lean on.

He’s won a World Series and has accomplished a lot in such a short time span.

He may not be a star, but he is a well-traveled veteran with a ton of experience.
