Veteran outfielder Jake Marisnick has signed a minor league deal with the Los Angeles Angels.

The following update comes from the Rotowire fantasy baseball portal:

Marisnick signed a minor-league contract with the Angels on Dec. 13.

ANALYSIS
Marisnick played 46 games with the White Sox, Tigers and Dodgers last season and had a .237/.280/.408 slash line. The veteran outfielder should serve as organizational depth in 2024 and has an outside chance at making the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder.

The soon-to-be 33-year-old has played parts of 11 seasons in the big leagues with the Marlins, Astros, Mets, Cubs, Padres, Pirates, White Sox, Tigers and Dodgers.

While he's bounced around quite a bit in the last few years, he did have a prolonged run with the Astros from 2014-2019. While he didn't play in the 2017 World Series, he did play 106 games for that team which did win the World Series.

Lifetime, Marisnick is a .228 hitter with 65 homers and 223 RBI. He's also stolen 81 bases and is known as a good speed threat off the bench.

Currently, the Angels have Jordyn Adams, Jo Adell, Mickey Moniak, Mike Trout and Taylor Ward as outfielders on the 40-man roster. Barring injury, it seems like a tough battle for Marisnick to crack the Opening Day roster, but anything is possible.

The Angels are coming off a fourth-place finish in the American League West and now have to absorb the loss of superstar Shohei Ohtani, who signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency.

The Halos now need to replace him as both a pitcher and a hitter.
