Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on Tuesday hit his first career home run, but he wasn’t satisfied with just one. The Toronto Blue Jays rookie decided to make it two, and they were both bombs — especially the second.
In the top of the first inning of Toronto’s game against the San Francisco Giants, Vlad took Nick Vincent deep to dead center. The home run was measured at an estimated 438 feet.
Vlad’s second was even more impressive. With two on, Guerrero took Reyes Moronta deep to left center for a 3-run shot to make it 7-2 in the sixth. The homer was estimated to have traveled 451 feet.
Since Statcast began tracking games, Vlad is the first Blue Jays player to hit two home runs of at least 110 mph in a game.
That’s a sign of just how hard Vlad hits the ball and how well he squares it up. The harder you’re able to consistently hit the ball, the more likely you are to have success at the plate. For Vlad, this is just the start of big things to come.
