The Washington Nationals will play the middle game of their three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, they are coming off a 4-1 loss last night that brings their record this season to 10-12 and they are 2-2 against the Dodgers this season including last night. The Nationals will have Jake Irvin getting the ball, he is 1-1 with a 3.13 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 23 innings and he will be facing Landon Knack who is 0-1 with a 3.60 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and four strikeouts in five innings of work. Before the game tonight, the Nationals placed outfielder Lane Thomas on the 10-Day Injured List with a Sprained left MCL and with that, they have recalled third baseman Trey Lipscomb from their Triple-A affiliate the Rochester Red Wings.

Thomas was originally drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He didn’t make his debut until 2019 when he was with the St. Louis Cardinals, but he just couldn’t stick which led to him being traded to the Nationals for LHP Jon Lester. Last season in his first full season with the Nationals he broke out as he posted a slash line of .268/.315/.468 with a .783 OPS; he had 36 doubles, three triples, 28 home runs, 86 RBI, 101 runs scored, 20 stolen bases, and 36 walks. This season through 22 games he has struggled hitting .184 with a .503 OPS; he has two home runs, ten RBI, six runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and eight walks.
3B – Trey Lipscomb
Lipscomb was drafted by the Nationals in the third round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He started at Single-A Fredericksburg hitting .299 with a .719 OPS in 23 games; he had four doubles, a triple, a home run, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, and four walks. Last season he played for High-A Wilmington and Double-A Harrisburg playing in 129 games and he hit .272 with a .730 OPS; he had 29 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 72 RBI, 59 runs scored, ten stolen bases, and 27 walks. This spring he played in 21 games and he hit .400 with a .995 OPS; he had two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven RBI, six runs scored, one stolen base, and five walks. He started the year with the Nationals and played in 14 games hitting .225 with a .564 OPS; he had one home run, four RBI, seven runs scored, four stolen bases, and three walks. He was sent down to Triple-A Rochester and in four games he went 4-16 with two RBI, and a run scored.
