Watch: Brewers tee off on Max Scherzer with three straight home runs
The New York Mets pitching staff is a bit of a mess so far this season.
But they still have future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer, and that should provide at least some optimism.
It did not on Tuesday night.
Especially not in the sixth inning.
That was when Scherzer gave up back-to-back-to-back home runs to Milwaukee Brewers hitters Rowdy Tellez, Brian Anderson and Garret Mitchell.

That is not what the Mets want to see, especially given the early-season state of their pitching staff. Jacob deGrom left in free agency, superstar closer Edwin Diaz was lost for the season at the World Baseball Classic and top offseason addition Justin Verlander had the start of his season delayed due to injury.
Scherzer is the guy who is supposed to be the rock right now. This performance, however, is not going to be going on his career highlight reel.
Things did not get any better after his departure, either.
In the seventh inning, Brooks Raley came in from the bullpen and proceeded to give up four more runs, including another set of back-to-back home runs to Anderson and Mitchell as they went back-to-back for the second time in the game.
The Brewers ended up taking the game 9-0 and handing the Mets their second consecutive blowout loss after dropping a 10-0 decision in Milwaukee on Monday. That means the Mets have been outscored 19-0 over the first two games of the series.
