Watch: Cardinals' Albert Pujols passes Stan Musial for second all-time in total bases after multi-home run effort against Diamondbacks

St. Louis Cardinals' 42-year-old slugger Albert Pujols continues to impress in what could be his final major league season.

On Saturday night, Pujols produced another herculean effort, muscling two balls out of the yard against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Pujols smashed career home run No. 691 in the top half of the second inning, smashing a pitch from Diamondback's starter Madison Bumgarner into the left-centerfield stands.

The home run also gave Pujols 6,137 career total bases, passing another Cardinals legend, Stan Musial, for second-most in MLB history. Only Hank Aaron (6,856) has more total bases than Pujols' 6,141.

Pujols got to Bumgarner again in the fourth inning, tattooing another solo shot that landed in the same neighborhood as his first homer.

Sitting fifth on the all-time home run leader board, Pujols now trails Alex Rodriguez (696) by four home runs for fourth place.

Pujols has been red-hot at the plate as of late. The 11-time All-Star has eight hits (five home runs) and 11 RBI over his last five games.

On the year, Pujols has 13 home runs and 37 RBI while slashing .265/.342/.510 over 70 games for the Cardinals.
