Watch: Kyle Schwarber hits hilariously timed home run that costs Phillies announcer

Philadelphia Phillies announcer and longtime baseball star John Kruk put his foot in his mouth on Saturday night, and it's going to cost him.

During the Phillies game in St. Louis, Kruk was talking about how he had never taken a trip to the St. Louis Arch and had no intention of ever doing so.

That conversation became relevant during an at-bat from Kyle Schwarber as he attempted to snap out of an extended hitless drought.

It was at that point that Kruk boldly proclaimed that if Schwarber homered during that particular at-bat he would finally make a journey to the Arch.

Two pitches later, this happened.

That is perfect comedic timing by Schwarber for his 44th home run of the season.

Kruk said he did not think he would be able to go on Sunday before the Phillies-Cardinals game in the afternoon, but there is good news for Kruk: The Arch opens at 9 a.m. CT so he can absolutely sneak in a visit before the first pitch.

The Phillies ended up winning Saturday's game, 6-1, over the Cardinals.
