Watch: Kyle Tucker hits two home runs in first two World Series at-bats

We have lift off.

Outfielder Kyle Tucker got the scoring going early in the 2022 World Series, hitting a solo home run in the second inning that gave the Astros a 1-0 lead. One inning later, he hit a three-run home run to give the Astros a 5-0 lead.

The home runs came off Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola. Nola kept the Astros scoreless in 6.2 innings pitched just 25 days ago

He entered the game 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA in his three previous starts this postseason, per Stat Muse

The Astros started Justin Verlander, who entered the game 0-6 with a 5.68 ERA in his career in the World Series. Tucker's home runs give Verlander an early lead to work with as he guns for one of the only things his decorated career is missing; a win in the World Series.

Tucker entered the 2022 World Series with a career .280 batting average in 11 career World Series games.

He figures to be a key contributor in this series, as standout third baseman Alex Bregman has a career batting average of .188 in the World Series, and second baseman Jose Altuve is batting .091 this postseason.

Tucker's two home runs are his first home runs ever in a World Series.
