Watch: Mariners' Ty France leaves game against A's after nasty collision at first base

Already hit significantly by the injury bug, the Seattle Mariners may be adding yet another player to the injured list.

Mariners' first baseman Ty France left Thursday's game against the Oakland A's with a left arm injury.

France left the game in the fifth inning after a collision with Oakland's Sheldon Neuse at first base.

Seattle's Abraham Toro fielded what looked like a routine ground ball out, but his throw to first forced France to stretch to his left, where he collided with Neuse. The impact pulled France's arm back gruesomely; he immediately grabbed his arm, falling to the ground in obvious discomfort.

If the injury to France wasn't enough, it might have been preventable, as Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times pointed out.

Just before France was injured, a 2-2 pitch to Neuse that appeared to be a strike three, ending the inning, was called a ball.

The injury could be a big blow to France if he's out for an extended period. The 27-year-old is on pace for the best season of his career. In 69 games, France is batting .319/.393/.480 with ten home runs and 45 RBI.

France is currently second among American League first basemen in all-star voting with over 596,000 votes; he trails only Toronto Blue Jays' first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who has received over 947,000 votes.
