Texas Rangers outfield prospect Wyatt Langford can’t stop hitting home runs.

Langford connected on his fourth homer during Friday's Rangers’ spring training game against the Kansas City Royals in Surprise, Ariz.

The Rangers lost the game, 4-2. However, the results at this point are irrelevant as the Rangers prepare for Opening Day on March 28 against the Chicago Cubs.

Langford continues to build his case to make the 26-man Opening Day roster and making it incredibly difficult for the Rangers to send him back to Triple-A Round Rock.

His fourth Cactus League homer was a solo shot with one out in the fourth inning. It gave the Rangers their first run of the game.

Langford hit his first spring training home run on March 1 against the San Francisco Giants, a smash that traveled an estimated 440 feet. He was batting second that day.

The next day, Langford hit two of them against the Chicago White Sox, going 3-for-4 with five RBI.

Entering Saturday’s action Langford has played in nine spring training games with 23 at-bats. He has seven hits, including four homers, with nine RBI and six runs scored. He’s slashing .304/.414/.826/1.240.

The Rangers could face a bit of a conundrum, depending upon how things shake out in the outfield, especially since Leody Taveras, who was the starting center fielder a year ago, is out of minor league options.

After the Rangers drafted Langford No. 4 overall, he started his pro career in Surprise, Ariz., with the Rangers’ Complex League team. From there, he went to High-A Hickory, Double-A Frisco, and Round Rock and slashed .360/.480/.677/1.157 with 10 home runs and 30 RBI.
