Watch: Swarm of bees delays Dodgers-Diamondbacks game for nearly two hours
There was quite a buzz surrounding the start of Tuesday's Los Angeles Dodgers-Arizona Diamondbacks game, but it wasn't necessarily a positive one. It actually ended up delaying the game for nearly two hours.
The issue at hand? Bees.
A lot of bees. Specifically, a swarm of bees that had taken up residence on the net behind home plate at Chase Field.
Just look at that nest of bees.
Let's be honest here, that is a lot of bees. As much as it had to sting for the fans in attendance to have to wait for the first pitch, it was probably best for the safety of everybody involved — including the bees — to wait for them to be cleared out.
The Diamondbacks were finally able to get some proper experts in to remove the bees, and they absolutely had some fun with it.
This is not the first time bees have delayed a sporting even, and especially a baseball game, but it is always bizarre to watch when it actually happens. This is one of the more extensive bee delays we have seen in recent memory.
