The Detroit Tigers are taking part in an intrasquad scrimmage Wednesday afternoon in preparation for the start of the 2020 MLB season on July 23.

Former first-round pick Derek Hill, who is attempting to earn a spot on the team’s roster, showed out big-time during said scrimmage.

Check out this absurd catch the 24-year-old outfielder made. It has to be seen to be believed.

The initial tracking of the ball was something else. Although, Hill’s ability to concentrate as the ball bounced off his glove was even better. What a stunning play, scrimmage or not.

A first-round pick of the Tigers from Elk Grove High School in California back in 2014, Hill has struggled at the plate during his minor league career. He hit just .243 with a .311 on-base percentage at Double-A Erie last season.

At the very least, this web gem shows us that Hill could have a future in the majors based solely on his defense.
