Watch: Yankees' Juan Soto hits third home run in spring training
Even though it's just spring training, it already looks like outfielder Juan Soto was a great investment for the New York Yankees.
Against the Detroit Tigers, the 25-year-old hit his third home run in spring training, tying the game at 1-1.
According to Max Goodman of NJ Advance Media, he's recorded a .714 batting average, seven RBI and a 3.064 OPS in four games.
In 2023, the Yankees missed the postseason for the first time since 2016 due to an inept offense. They were second to last in baseball in batting average (.227) and 27th in on-base percentage (.304).
In Dec. 2023, New York dealt seven players to the San Diego Padres for the three-time All-Star. On Jan. 11, both parties agreed to a $31M salary for the 2024 season, a record for an arbitration-eligible player.
If Soto and five-time All-Star Aaron Judge stay healthy, the Yankees could win the World Series for the first time since 2009.
As of Sunday, FanDuel gives them the fourth-best odds (+800) to capture the Fall Classic behind the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers.
